Stephanie and Fred Shuman of The Windmill Lane Foundation Award $1M to Outward Bound
GARRISON, NY. March 25, 2008 - Outward Bound USA, the nation's leading provider of experiential education programs, has announced a $1,000,000 grant awarded by Stephanie and Fred Shuman of The Windmill Lane Foundation of New York City. In awarding this grant to Outward Bound, Fred Shuman who serves as a director emeritus said: “While it has been some time since Stephanie and I have had a close association with Outward Bound, we have always been impressed with the work done by the organization on behalf of young people. Outward Bound’s leadership has made significant strides in moving the organization forward and we are pleased to demonstrate our support in this way.”
In expressing Outward Bound’s gratitude for their generosity, John C. Read, President and CEO of Outward Bound said “The Shumans have always served as positive force in our organization, challenging us to be better. This gift will serve in strengthen the infrastructure of our organization and help in bring the transformation power of Outward Bound to even more students.”
