PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
On February 6, the OBBA Youth Leadership Corps participants showed what OB is really about when we teamed up to paint Wellness Center at Visitacion Valley Middle School, one of our school partners. Youth Leadership is a merit based scholarship for Bay Area students to expedition in the High Sierra for 14 days. Accepted students come back from course for a year of service, activities, and community building. This project brought it all full circle by providing service for the middle schoolers at VVMS who participate in in-classroom OB lessons every Friday and 5-Day Expeditions. Below is a letter from Kerri Berkowitz, the Wellness Center Director, and a photo of happy faces at VVMS.
Dear Outward Bound,
The community at Visitacion Valley Middle School would like to express our deepest gratitude to you for the amazing opportunities you provide for our students. We feel extremely fortunate and proud to share that you are one of our strongest and most dedicated partners. Not only do you offer quality programming, but you also greatly contribute to the positive culture and climate of our school. Please know how thankful we are for your help in beautifying our Wellness Center. Not only do you encourage service learning projects for the youth you work with, but as an organization you are truly committed to values you stand by.
With great appreciation,
Kerri Berkowitz, MSW, Visitacion Valley Middle School
