Today is the day. To make positive choices. To embrace my potential. To realize I can change my path.
We serve youth, young adults, families, schools and communities throughout the United States at-risk of academic failure, dropping out of school, delinquency or becoming chronic offenders.
Designed for teens that have begun to make choices at home and in school or with friends that are not positive influences on their future, this 50-day semester course begins with an extended expedition and our traditional parent seminar. The Winter Semester includes dogsledding and cross-country skiing, hiking, canoeing and rock climbing. The Fall Semester includes canoeing and rock climbing, hiking, and a special expedition in a 36-foot North Canoe. The last 3 weeks of both courses are spent using new-found discipline and motivation to do further work on understanding and developing problem solving and decision making skills, leadership ability and teamwork. Another aspect of the second half of the course is a project of the student’s choice for which school credit is available. Up to 12 college/high school credits are available for the semester though our partner colleges, Northland College in Wisconsin and Western State in Colorado.
