Logistics – ME, MN, CO, UT, CA, OR, WA, AK - Summer 2010
The Logistics Coordinator (LC2) is responsible for supporting the logistical and program functions of the program.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the issue, de-issue, and maintenance of the regional outdoor equipment. Includes clean up, repair, laundry and inventory.
- Supports the delivery of Outward Bound mission and educational framework.
- Maintains map, medical and expendable inventory.
- Support field operations as needed: transports, re- supplies, and direct course support.
- Interact and build successful relationships with instructional staff, course directors and students.
- Handles all logistical details, preparations, and support for several courses in the field at once.
- Is actively involved in developing and working on personal and professional goals.
- Assists the basic maintenance/upkeep of base facilities.
- Adheres to all local operating procedures, safety polices and emergency procedures outlined in the staff manual.
Skills Needed:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Maintains an excellent driving record. Is able to drive a manual transmission.
- Is able to perform basic equipment repair if instructed.
- Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possesses leadership skills to manage small groups.
- Ability to live in a communal base camp environment.
- Ability to carry weights up to 50-60 lbs.
- On feet most days, sometimes for long hours (e.g. early morning departure to late night return)
- Able to sleep on ground, camp outside, etc.
- Able to operate a vehicle for 8 – 10 hours a day.
Dates:
Although it can vary by location, most programs begin the LC season with training in May. Staff are usually offered a work agreement for the summer season (end of August, early September) but some positions are available in to the fall.
