Leadville Winter Program Manager

Summary
The Leadville Program Manager – Intern and Winter Programs provides leadership, administration and management to the Rocky Mountain Program, with a focus in the areas of winter program supervision and summer Intern Program development and management.  Other areas of responsibility include ensuring high-quality program and course outcomes, program resource development, and Course Director supervision. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Overall Program Leadership
* Collaborate as a member of the Rocky Mountain Program Leadership Team to determine and fulfill program needs, goals, and directional strategy.
* Supervise, support, and develop Course Directors and courses as assigned.
* Participate in the administration, delivery and course quality of all open enrollment, contracts and at-risk courses running out of Leadville such that course quality remains true to OB mission and core values.
* Uphold and follow all policies.
 Intern Program
* Refine and manage Intern Program in the Rocky Mountain Program.
* Assist in interviewing and hiring Interns.
* Oversee curriculum and quality of Intern Trainings in conjunction with Logistics Manager.
* Evaluate, track and provide regular feedback for Interns, as well as course directors and instructional teams working with them, to ensure professional growth.
* Work with the Head Logistics Coordinator (HLC) to determine each Intern’s daily schedule so that course needs are met and Intern development opportunities are not missed.
* Assist HLC in facilitating daily Intern Meetings to assign tasks, schedule development opportunities, and coordinate program needs.
* Organize Intern Training opportunities throughout the summer.
Winter Program
* Oversee safety and quality of winter programming and trainings.
* Write winter itineraries to ensure high course quality while staying in alignment with land agency requirements.
* Supervise winter courses and course directors.
Safety
* Participate in the systems of incident command, Local Emergency Response Plans, Local Operating Procedures, rescue cache, and incident reporting for courses running out of Leadville.
* Participate in determining the content and delivery of course safety briefings and the field use of quarterly safety reports into all courses running out of Leadville.
* Participate in the Leadville emergency on-call systems.
* Respond to field emergencies.
Business Management
* Assist Staffing Associate Program Director on staffing and human resources needs.
* Manage chaperoning system and resources in the Rocky Mountain Program.
* Organize, review and respond to course paperwork.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct supervisory visits to field operation sites.
* Assist Logistics Team in ensuring that support needs are met.
* Document and update procedures and manuals to ensure smooth transitions.
* Participate in other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
* Ability to participate in vigorous to moderate physical activity including but not limited to running, swimming, backpacking and mountaineering.
* Ability to lift and move a minimum of 40 pounds.
* Sitting at a desk or computer 70% of time or greater.

Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of OB programs and skill requirements.
* Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member.
* Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
* Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Very strong and effective communicator, both written and oral.
* Proficient with PC in Word® and Excel®.
* Familiarity with courses and activities in Colorado.

Education and Work Experience
* Bachelor degree and 2-3 years experience in the outdoor education/experiential learning field or any similar combination of education and experience.
* Outward Bound or other wilderness expeditionary experience (OB, NOLS multi-day course or equivalent) required. 
* Management experience required and logistics experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
* 12-month, salaried position.
* Pay is commensurate with experience.
