The mission of the Upward Bound Youth Foundation, Inc. is to enhance individual opportunity through higher education, providing financial assistance to formerly adjudicated Outward Bound youth who demonstrate a desire to pursue meaningful educational programs.ABOUT US
The Upward Bound Youth Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit foundation that aims to encourage and motivate formerly adjudicated youth to stay in school and demonstrate positive choices within the community.
Our purpose is to help formerly adjudicated Outward Bound students assure their future through the pursuit of higher education. The Foundation believes that access to higher education opens doors to opportunities for its youth and is dedicated to reducing the financial obstacles that prevent deserving students from fulfilling their potential by providing the financial assistance necessary to pursue higher education.
FOUNDATION GUIDELINES
1.Eligible applicants must have been court referred and have graduated one of the following Outward Bound programs:Outward Bound - Five Rivers located in Fairhope, Alabama
Peace River Outward Bound, located in Arcadia, Florida, or
Outward Bound STEP-Yulee located in Jacksonville, Florida
3.Remain crime free since the time of their Outward Bound program graduation.
EXPECTATIONS OF THE FOUNDATION
Provide the full cost of tuition and books to complete the accredited educational program chosen by the Upward Bound student.EXPECTATIONS OF THE STUDENTS
Maintain a 2.0 or higher grade point average, or its equivalent throughout enrollment in their educational program.
Demonstrate positive choices within the community. An applicant or Upward Bound student convicted of a criminal offense prior to or during enrollment in higher education may become ineligible.
Volunteer each year during enrollment to their adjudicated program, either sharing personal experiences and challenges in higher education or mentoring a future Upward Bound student in their community.
