How We Do It

Russia — Mt. Elbrus

Elbrus is a giant dormant volcano, which separates Europe from Asia in Russia's mystical Caucus mountain range. Consequently it has become one of the coveted "Seven Summits". Our expedition begins and ends in Moscow where we will start our process of forming group norms and our focus on teamwork and communication. A short flight to Mineral Vody and an enchanting bus ride up valley sees us to the foot of the mountains where we continue our exploration of leadership and communication, while acclimatizing and getting into the mountains to prepare for our ascent. Daily we will explore the communication paradigms of your organization and strive to find ways to improve the parts that need changing, and celebrate the parts that are working well!

The Expedition:

Our initial days will be spent climbing the surrounding foothills of Elbrus to better prepare our bodies for the challenges of Europe's highest peak. During this time, your team will assist the guides in the planning, preparation, and implementation of this exciting adventure, allowing you a chance to discover your new found skills in leadership, communication, and problem solving.

Staying in lodges and then huts on the expedition, we avoid the need for tents. These shelters allow us more formal and informal time focused on conversations in relation to your goals both on the climb and back in the office. We have included several contingency days to allow for poor weather and our proven ascent program assures a very high chance of summit success.

Being relatively high, Elbrus certainly demands respect for its altitude and we approach this by climbing high each day during acclimatization and then sleeping low to recover. As with any foray to high altitude, it is imperative that seminar members are fit and in good health. After enrollment in this seminar, we will contact your organization with a detailed fitness program to better prepare your team for the rigors of the expedition.

This seminar is 12 days long and begins and ends in Moscow. The typical climbing season for Elbrus is early July through the end of August. Contact us for further schedule details.
