Merit-Based Scholarship

The Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program is a merit-based program, which serves budding community leaders ready to bring change to the world around them. Please see the menu of programmatic options below.

  1. Outward Bound Leadership Scholarships - Outward Bound awards full-tuition merit-based scholarships to high school juniors and seniors, college students, and educators. Outward Bound Leadership Scholarships are available to youth attending a 22-day mountaineering course or educators attending a 7-, 10-, or 14-day summer course. The scholarship application deadline is March 15th.
The 2009 deadline has passed, but we will begin accepting applications this November for courses running in 2010.

  2. Marmot Leadership Scholarship - The Marmot Leadership Scholarship is awarded based on both financial need and individual merit. This scholarship is offered annually to one high school senior or college student under the age of 23. The scholarship provides full-tuition support to attend a 50-day summer semester or wilderness leader course. Each year, the Marmot Scholarship recipient is fully outfitted for course in Marmot outerwear. The scholarship application deadline is February 15th.
The 2009 deadline has passed, but we will begin accepting applications this November for courses running in 2010.

  3. Leadership Award - The Leadership Award is a full-tuition scholarship for juniors nominated through donor-designated high schools. This scholarship serves students who display untapped leadership potential and an interest in giving back to their communities. Scholarship recipients are typically chosen by a designated representative at the student's high school. Please Note: This program is available only to students nominated through pre-existing Outward Bound partnerships. The Leadership Award is not open to the general public.
