Kelly Fritz - 6/16/09

Letter to my group, written on solo:

When asked about their friends people will often say...oh, we've been friends since we were born, or I'm practically part of their family.  When someone asks me about my friends from this trip I'm going to say "Hell, I know them WELL." I'm going to say I spent twenty-four hours a day with them for twenty-one days. Now that, is a lot of time.  I'll tell anyone who asks I saw my friends while they were sleeping, eating, dipping, going to the bathroom, crying, laughing and stressing.

We were together soaking wet and cold in our fowl weather gear, and we were together holding hands before supper.  We put up with each other after thirty-some odd hours of sailing, and three hours of sleeping.  We saw each other at all times of the day and night.  There were times we were frustrated with each other, but by the end of the night all we wanted was a group goodnight hug.

When I get back the the 'real world' I don't think I will be able to sleep in my room by myself. My draws full of clean clothes and a real toilet will be intimidating...I'll have to get used to these luxuries again. I don't know what I'll do without you guys, but I'll think of you and our wonderful experiences together constantly!
