I'm a 47 year old man. When I went to outward bound, I was a fifteen year old boy. It was on hurricane island that I spent thirty days with bunch people I did not know. We climbed the wall the rope course, sailed all over the bay together. I kept a log of my days there. To this day, now and then, I go back and read the stories I wrote and think, where are the people that I went to the greatest course of my lifetime. We were in Powell watch group. It was a may to June course. That jump into the water after the jog around the island is something I will never forget. The people I did not know at the start of the course- well they were like big brothers and sisters to me by the end of the course. I could go on and on about the experience of the time I had, I can tell you one thing, it has lasted with me for over thirty years. The one thing stands out in my memory was the solo. The island I spent five days on was Little Rye.It sure lived up to it's name.
TO SERVE TO STRIVE AND NOT TO YIELD.
