Youth Leadership Corps Expeditions

What is Youth Leadership Corps?

Youth Leadership Corps Expeditions (YLC) are merit-based scholarship awards for students to participate in a 14-16 day summer Outward Bound course with a diverse team of students representative of their regional community.

This course will not only include backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, service, solo and final expedition but also a leadership curriculum designed to challenge the team and strengthen individuals.

After the expedition there will be regional opportunities to continue the friendships and service ethic fostered during YLC.

Who is the ideal candidate for Youth Leadership Corps?

Outward Bound is seeking 15-17 year old students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities in their academic, athletic and social lives to apply for our YLC. Ideal candidates either have worked in teams or are open to a team atmosphere. Outdoor skills are not necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know for the course!

How much does it cost?

All participants receive a full scholarship based on the merits of their application. The only cost to the participant is the $100 application fee. This fee is refundable if you are not selected for the program. Other costs may include personal clothing and small expedition items. Outward Bound will supply all expedition-specific clothing, gear and equipment.
