Planned Gifts/Kurt Hahn Society
It is never too early to consider a planned gift to benefit the mission of Outward Bound. Listed are some of the most common and easy ways that you can choose to leave your legacy.Bequests - Making a provision to Outward Bound in your will is the most common way to make a planned gift. The provision may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage or a contingent amount should your beneficiaries predecease you. Consult your attorney for more information on the best option for your situation.
Charitable Trusts - Consider creating a trust that pays you a fixed percentage of the trust's assets or a set income annually.
Life Insurance Policy - Naming Outward Bound as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is as simple as contacting your insurance provider and updating your beneficiary designation. Another option would be to transfer ownership of the policy to Outward Bound yet continue to make premium payments.
IRAs/Retirement Plans - Making Outward Bound the beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan is also a great way to make a big impact after you are gone. Again, it is as simple as updating your beneficiary designation.
Those who do set up planned gifts for Outward Bound and let us know about them become members of our Kurt Hahn Society. This recognition society was created in 1996 to honor the foresight and generosity of our cherished planned giving donors. It is aptly named after the founder of Outward Bound Kurt Hahn, who, like our planned giving donors, led by example and left the tremendous legacy that is called Outward Bound.
Kurt Hahn Society members are recognized each year in our annual report. All requests for anonymity are respected. To notify Outward Bound of your planned gift, or for more detailed information on various types of planned gift types, please contact Terri Bate at (330) 497-8683 or tbate@outwardbound.org.
