Voyageur’s charged tuition does not equal the full cost of going on a course or expedition. This gap is filled by the generosity of many hearts. Donors who want to support scholarships have the option to fill the gap through the general scholarship fund or by naming scholarships with gifts of $5,000 or more.

Your financial gift will support Voyageur Outward Bound’s commitment to ensuring programs are accessible to as many students as possible, regardless of financial circumstance. In the last fiscal year, over $800K funded the gap between tuition and program delivery costs, student scholarships and community support impacting every student that went on course — more than 1,100 students in 2024.

Today’s students indicate and qualify for even greater support. Your gifts make their experience possible in more ways than one – from charged tuition to gear, generosity and compassion matter.

General Scholarship Fund

Each year, thousands of dollars in need-based scholarships transform a student’s potential into a life-changing expedition. Your gift to the General Scholarship Fund fuels these journeys, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of a defining experience for as many students as possible.

Named Scholarships

With a scholarship gift of $2,500 you can name a scholarship and remove the financial barriers for a student to go Outward Bound. We’ll share your scholarship inspiration with the recipient and then their post-course reflection with you. A named scholarship is more than a gift; it’s a bridge to growth.

Endowed Scholarships

Donors who would like to ensure the sustainability and legacy of Voyageur Outward Bound for years into the future can fund an Endowed Scholarship. Endowed scholarships are designed to grow Voyageur’s endowment and provide an annual scholarship for a student with demonstrated financial need.

Gifts of $100,000 can establish a named scholarship endowment, where $2,000 is awarded annually to a student applying for scholarship support. The principal is combined with Voyageur Outward Bound’s Endowment to increase earnings and support operations.

Today’s endowment generates nearly $400K in operating revenue annually, a critical part of ensuring Voyageur can continue innovation in programming, excellence in delivery, and the strongest staff.
