Students wanting to attend Outward Bound with assistance from their 529, or most other College Savings Plan, may do so. Thanks to Outward Bound’s partnership with Western Colorado University, we can accept 529 College Savings Plans through the university's Center for Learning and Innovation Outdoor and Experiential Learning program and anyone can register – you do not have to be a current Western Colorado University student. Registration is easy and takes only a few days to process. Please note that in order to use your 529 plan for your Outward Bound tuition, applicable course credits must also be purchased through Western. And, as a result, you will earn academic credit for your Outward Bound outdoor education course.
How to Use Your 529 College Savings Plan and Receive Academic Credit
1. Consult with your Outward Bound Admissions Advisor about course options. Make your choice and apply for that course.
